IMPORTANT! One thing we wanted to let you know is that there is a chance the road between Windermere and Ambleside may have roadworks on Thursday 7th in the evening after 6.30pm so please can you all try to get to Windermere before 6pm in the evening to avoid any delays. If it rains the road works will not happen. Fingers crossed it rains! We have tried to get the council to stop the work and it may yet be postponed so we will keep you updated.
The nearest train station to Zeffirellis cinema in Ambleside is Windermere.
If you are getting the train from London, there are trains running hourly from London Euston to Oxenholme in the Lake District with Virgin trains; this usually takes 2 hours 40 minutes. Then get a train from Oxenholme to Windermere with Northern trains; this will take you a further 20 minutes. On arrival at Windermere you will need to take either a bus or taxi into Ambleside.
DRIVING & PARKING
Zeffirellis is approximately a 30 minute drive from junction 36 on the M6.
From the North:
Exit the M6 at junction 40. Turn onto the A66 West towards Keswick, then South on the A591 to Rydal in the direction of Grasmere then signposted Ambleside and Windermere.
From the South:
Exit the M6 at junction 36, follow the A591 West via Kendal and Windermere to Ambleside.
There is no on-site parking but there is limited free on-street parking outside both Zeffirellis cinema and Fellinis restaurant. A parking disc scheme is in operation throughout Ambleside, with discs available free from most retailers in the town. Ambelside also has several pay and display car parks a short walk away.
Stagecoach Bus services 555 and 599 also pass through Ambleside to Keswick and Grasmere to the north, and Kendal and Lancaster in the South.
